not so sure this was a fake patch.

    1. there are other Hot Prospects Crosby RCs with the yellow like this one.
    2. the creases are not "around the window". upon closer look, it goes horizontally across the entire card. patch fakers do mess up and the evidence is there around the window of the patch but the damage to this one just doesn't match up.

if anything, i'd think some guy got his card damaged in the mail and is just trying to get back anything he can at this point.

EDIT - here's another auction with a yellow patch:

I said MOST of the Crosby HPs were blue patches, so that isnt the only issue with this card, all I am saying is there are way to many redflags, to take a chance,

actually, it looks like a Bruin logo

I have a hard time jumping to fake patch but I have no issue jumping on UD QA, as we know they have had patch insertion issues in the past

OH I agree completly,UDs past track record with QA is terrible, so its very possible its from another jersey, and Bruins is a strong candidate, either way you add it up, it equals STAY AWAY from this card

    Skyfire47,
Sharing a example is a perfect antidote to when someone quote as you mentioned. Another thing that can be thrown into the equation is that sometime dealers do not know what they are buying. As the fakepatchreport has shown some great fake cards that have been changed by serial number. But if ou were at a show you would have no clue they were fake and would sell them as legit. So that just another potential issue s it hard to keep track of everything. One reason I like to pull from the pack as you know it was not tampered with by a person but UD themselves.

    A great thread.

Would someone really mangle a card like that to "fake" a patch. I don't care who the player is or how many colors the patch is, a card that mangled ain't worth crap! (at least to me) I seriously wouldn't take it for free. What would I do with it?

I personally hate Crosby (waaaay over hyped) but to kill a card like that is a sin!
