Ovechkin reportedly sits in on Rangers’ practice
Capitals star jokes he did it to ‘tick off’ N.Y. coach Tortorella
Washington Capitals winger Alexander Ovechkin watched part of the New York Rangers' pregame skate Monday morning before being kicked out, ESPN reported.
Ovechkin sat on the visitors' bench, watching practice, until a Rangers' trainer complained and he was asked to leave, ESPN reported.
"Alex was just looking for a place to relax. He likes being by the ice," Capitals public relations official Nate Ewell said, ESPN reported. "As soon as he found out it made the Rangers uncomfortable, he left."
