Possible Fake Carey Price Auto
Just a heads-up to anybody that may think about jumping on this relatively good deal:
Carey Price Trilogy Auto
You'll note the low seller feedback and the rather pristine-looking signature. Any Carey collectors out there know that his auto hasn't looked that nice in quite some time now, so I sent the seller the following question:
Is that an actual scan of the card? The reason I ask is that Carey's signature hasn't looked that nice in a long time - most of the 08-09 cards featuring his auto are barely more than a squiggle with a 31 at the end, and your photo has the auto looking as pristine as it did when he was still in junior, and is also missing the 31. Just wondering if you can clear that up for me.
Thanks,
Richard
I'll post his response should I receive one.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I would have to agree with you - I've got about three of his autos - this one isn't even close to those

It "could" just be a stock photo with the auto super-imposed on it. It's not the first time that it's happened; I remember drooling when I first saw the sell sheets for Habs Centennial and thinking that they'd asked Carey to sign his autos for the set really pretty-like:

Of course the final product turned out differently. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but at a minimum it is misleading to use this photo to help sell the card.

if you check the seller recent purchases, he did purchase a box of Trilogy. he could have pulled this....

He may have pulled it, but I doubt severely that the auto looks like that. Like, 100% doubt it. I've got more than a dozen Carey autos in my PC and the only one that vaguely resembles that is a BTP sticker auto from 07-08. None of his UD sticker autos look that good.

Maybe he is using a stock photo? That is a mistake a lot of new sellers and some lazy sellers do.

That signature looks like he copy the one you see here and applied somehow..

Seller just got back to me. It's an image from the UD Store, and he'll be getting the actual photo up soon.
Case closed!

I don't like stock photo's for that exact reason.

Exactly. If I'm an overzealous Carey collector and I see that auto and I hit the BIN - wow that's a real shocker when the real deal shows up.
