These responses were great everyone...I consider this like an intervention for cardboard addicts... lol in all seriousness though Im going to shift the subject of this topic...Ive done it all from sets by a manufactuer for the last 26 years to players to well the list goes on...How does everyone store their collection...is it okay that some items just sit and over time collect dust...? Other then this trading forum I have nobody really coming over to look at my collection but Id like to somehow find a better way to display it and incorporate it into like a "mancave" room theme...

I've become a Giroux collector, and his cards are selling fairly high. If he becomes the player he should, then his prices will keep skyrocketing. Mike Richards and Jeff Carter are good picsk for collections, but they don't get the hobby love that others get.

Fun as to be number one on a collector list to last.
The money I put in this hobby is money spent, not a investement. This way I don't feel I need to sell my PC item and those who know me, don't even try to get aany PC from me because they already know I will say no. My PC as over 22 000.00$ in BV and keep growing all the time.
I collect habs goaler and HOF. I also pick up other habs when a deal come around. This way it's impoossible I will get them all.
I store all my cards in Sport card boxes 3000 or 5000 ones. Inserts/rookie traders and PC are all in sleeves at the minimum for 5$ -20$ cards and sleeves with top loader for 20$ +.
I don't show case many cards at my home but I do show case all the empty boxes that I have opened. So this get the room to look like a card room. I do showcase my traders and PC on my website and this is where I get a lot of remark when some members take the time to look at my PC. This is a lot of work to scan all insert/RC/jersey/auto but make trading and showing you PC so much more efficient.
Since I am a programmer, I wrote my own application using a database. Now I can bring one page that show for all set, number of card and total BV. Then when I click on the set, I see all the listing with low and high BV, quantity etc..
I code my own bucket to so it make entering cards easy and efficient. Much more the Beckett application since I have a better application then they have and is much faster to enter base card as I can do this by enetring all quantity on a page that list all the card and a box for each card to enter the quantity. I get the BV because I wrote a importer so I just need to copy a listing from my beckett account and paste it in my set importer and in less the a minute I have a full set with all the names, BV, RC distinction and I also can set a set as a autograph set. This mean that I soon as I upload a image in my bucket it will show up with description BV and will show in the auto section. Same for rookie/jersey/inserts/parallel and much more groups like Mcdonalds, other food companies, stickers etc...
This make the best show case because one, my card are stored and don't collect light or dust. they are safly stored and condition stay at is best.
Here a page I made to showcase all my collection. On this page you see all my PC that I show in my bucket.

I have a unique way of storing my collection. I have a huge box I built out of plywood that I keep all my base singles in minus all the name players. These name players I keep in binders so if anyone asks me what I got for Yzerman or Ovechkin, I go to the appropriate binder and look to see if I got what they want.
I keep rookies in another, and all my sets completed or not are in binders as well.
Inserts are kept in a binder as well minus name players. They are kept in the aforementioned binders with thier base cards.
My Jagr's Palfy's and Stumpels are in binders too, but with a difference. I learned a trick from a friend who got a complete checklist of his favorite players from a site called Hockey Heaven. He put all his cards in order of the list in his binder, and for the cards he didn't have, put a cardboard insert with the title and number of the card he needed for that spot. This makes it visibly easy to see if you have that card or not.
Another thing I find that works for me at the moment when trading is, the cards that are involved in trade, I take, and put in thier respective piles, and use a little piece of paper with the name of the trader I am dealing with. It helps me keep track of what I'm trading, and with whom.
I never did use any computer programs to keep track of my cards, but am looking at using my Excel to keep inventory.Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd
***Doing some massive updating. Please be patient!***

Let me suggest one thing. If you have time during the end of July and begining of August take a road trip to the Nationals in Cleveland. You will see cards especially if your collect other stuff besides Hockey. But you will see some killer hockey as well. As the Cup should be release around then so it will be aplenty of that floating around. The big thing is the boxes that you can get then and now at Crazy Prices. Just a thought. Perhaps you will want to try something besides cards after the show.
