Ebay help
Hey guys/girls, I recently received a card from an ebay member. Gold parralel Beliveau from this year of /25. Didn't pay too much for it, anyways, when it came in the mail it came taped between two card cases and had damage at the top of the card.
Question is should I get him to refund me? Don't see two many of these and any at a buy it now price are at least double the price. What should I do?
Thanks for your help, Gabe

I would say if the card was damaged from being improperly packed by him or her, that you should at least try to get a refund.

Ask for a refund and leave negative feedback

I wouldn't rush to leave negative feedback. Ask for a refund, and if the guy/gal refuses to budge when it's obviously his/her fault, then go and leave negative.

Thanks for the replies, I've sent him another message requesting a refund. I'll hold off on the negative feedback for now though.

I think if you want to keep the card for a personal collection and the damage isn't to bad I would ask for a partial refund. I have done this a few times successfully. Most sellers with 100% pos feedback in the thousands will be pretty reasonable about it.

With a print run of only 25 you need to ask yourself whether the slight amount of damage is enough to make you no longer want that copy of the card. As you said, every other one floating on the market is going to cost you at least double what you paid. If it's really badly wrecked, I'd definitely request a refund, send him pics of the damage to support your claim, and ask him why on Earth he'd send a single card taped between two top loaders instead of just inside one!

He's insisting it isn't his fault, that the tape couldn't have touched the cards and he does this with all his cards??? I've asked for a partial refund because I do want the card, even with the damage. The only thing I'm afraid of is that he will in turn leave a negative feedback on my profile as he hasn't left anything yet. What a goof...

I would keep working it out with him. Keep messaging back and forth and try to find common ground. Tell him you are just looking to work this out before you both post feedback at this point.
Tell him that you undersatnd why he feels it's not his fault, but the fact is when you found the card you found damage. Explain to him that you do want to keep the card, but feel it's worth SOME money back. Even if you ask for 1/4 of your money back I think that would be fair.
If he's not reasonable, then tell him that you will leave him negative feedback, but if you paid him quickly, then he has no reason to leave you negative feedback, and you could contact EBAY about him leaving you the negative.
