    Got myself a multi-sport steal...

So my city is having their "Spring Garage Sale" weekend this weekend, and it kicked off today...so I went around to a few sales with some pocket change, and was fortunate enough to find some sports cards...now, this isn't anything amazing, but I was proud with my find! 2 ziploc baggies of cards (all sports) for $.25 each...so, for $.50, I got myself 75 different cards - mostly baseball, and most were older base, but I did get a Reggie Miller (basketball) insert, a Jake Plummer (football) RC, and a bunch of recent baseball inserts, along with a Griffey Jr Starquest from the 90s, a Mike Sweeney RC, an 81 George Brett base, and an Al Leiter refractor....surely couldn't complain for getting cards at less than $0.01 each!

And this wasn't my nicest sport card find at a garage sale - found a box of nearly 3000 cards for $12 a few years back!

    Just thought I'd share! :-)

Anyone else ever found nice steals at garage sales?

4 years ago I picked up some cards from a yard sale that had some older cards 1970 and under (around 50 of them) in the bunch it had a 1968 mantle around vg cond. Got the bunch for 5 bucks.

I plan on picking up some in the city wide yard sale the first weekend on May here where I live.

You wouldn't belive the things I pick up at yard/garage sales. I stop at almost every one I see. Besides sport stuff I pick up tons of other collectible stuff. I collect ephmere, antiques, and historical documents. And I have found plenty from going to them. Heck I got documents on loan to a few museums in the state of Kentucky (pertaining to the civil war). People sometimes have no idea what they through away/sell.

Dale - wow, that was a sweet find! That Mantle was probably worth 10 times what you bought the lot for, if not more!

Jesse - I definitely would check some out...never know what you'll find! :-)

metspride - keep trying, and I'm sure you'll find a steal at some point!

about 5 years ago a buddy of mine went to a local flea market really early in the morning about 530ish when the dealers were still setting up, and one of the guys had a box of vintage baseball, he wanted 75 for it,but gave it to my buddy for 60. Inside that box was TWO 1963 Pete Rose RC, in about PSA 6-7 condition, and a 63 Mantle, in about a PSA 5 condition, and about 50 others, none notable from what I remember, but still who cares. any one of those 3 would have been a steal, I COULDNT BELIEVE IT
