Campbell’s Cuts: Caps comeback would be just result
BY: Ken Campbell
Should the New York Rangers somehow collect themselves to come back and win Game 7 against the Washington Capitals Tuesday night, they will go down in history as arguably the least deserving team to ever win a playoff series.
As it stands now, the Capitals are outscoring the Rangers 17-10 through the first six games of the series and outshooting them 192-141, which means they’ve been outshooting the Rangers by an average of 8.25 shots per game. With 44 shots in the series so far, Alex Ovechkin has just one fewer shot than the Rangers’ top three shooters – Ryan Callahan, Nik Antropov and Scott Gomez – have combined.
We can probably all agree if the Rangers do win Tuesday night, it will be by a razor-thin margin with goalie Henrik Lundqvist stealing another victory in a game and a series in which the overmatched Rangers had no business even being competitive.

if the Rangers are undeserving of winning what does that say for the caps that had to go to a game 7 with them? If they squeak by with a win tonite what kind of chance do they have in the next round? None. As a Rangers fan I was amazed we took a lead in the series and am amazed we have made it to a game 7. But the caps don't have a chance for the cup, they have zero depth, they have like 2 lines that play the entire game and they will be way too worn out after going 7 games here.

Or it could also say the Lundqvist stole a few games that New York had no business winning and the fact that Theodore had a terrible first game. If it wasn't for his bad first game this series would already be over.

still, the rangers were one of the lowest scoring teams this year, the Caps wont make it past the next round.

Rankings are really just a number, they still have to play one of the top 8 teams from the conference. It means nothing, regardless if you're playing the top seed or the 8th seed. The seeds mean nothing once the games start. And Washingtons rookie goalie is playing really well. They may not make it out of the next round, but they still beat 11 other teams in the conferenceLast edited by TysonX504; 04-28-2009 at 11:09 PM.
