If you could have any box of 2009
which would it be? I have 2 boys ages 10 and 5. I used to collect cards before there were 100 different kinds. I stopped because I could no longer afford everything. I am looking to buy a few boxes for my boys to enjoy opening and finding cool cards. I hate to spend on junk. If you could choose any box from this year's baseball and football series what would it be?

well, if your buying 2009 products then your best bet on football is probably press pass (for right now). If you want 2008 then I would go with LCM or gridiron gear because you get alot of hits for a lower price, with some nice possible value. I have no idea about baseball tho.

OK. So 08 Gridiron Gear for football until the new stuff rolls out. Know where I can get this at the best price?
As for baseball, I have seen a lot of 1/1 stuff lately. Doesn't this make it impossible to ever complete a set? That being said, I am almost positive sets aren't the issue with my boys. They enjoy the pack opening. I have seen some unreal 1/1 autographs etc online. I am not into paying 10-15 a pack for cards at all. Just looking for the best chance for the $. Thanks in advance.

There prices are very nice, I've bought from them many times.
If your looking for cheap after you spend that amount on football, for baseball I'd suggest either 08 or 09 A Piece of History. You get a Piece of Memorbilla from a movie and 2 jerseys along with an RC auto. I thought my 08 was a fun product to break.
I got
trevor hoffman gu
Jose Reyes gu
Jacket Used in award winning movie capote
Ross Ohlendorf rc auto /50
and tons of numbered inserts.
As for your other question, no it's not impossible to complete sets. Your right about the millions of types of cards today but within each set is a subset of inserts like...
Topps -- Commons
Topps HR kings--inserts
Topps Doubles -- inserts
Topps Minis -- inserts
So you can collect the commons as the full real set and then the inserts as a subset.
Sorry if that was confusing, but each numbered card is an insert and not part of the real set, but you can complete the subsets aswell.

I would choose 2008 Allen & Ginter for baseball. The cards are beautifully done and you can pull some nice cards out of there! The kids might learn a few things too.
I often buy from www.cardsbythebox.com

Personally, I would pick Press Pass, the cards are fantastic, and your boys will learn the rookies in the NFL faster & they are guaranteed 5 auto hits per box! Good luck & hope the little ones have a blast opening up whatever packs they end up with!

In baseball right now I like the 2009 Piece of History but Upper Deck Goudey comes out tomorrow and that is always fun to break I have one box already ordered and may get another at the local shop tomorrow. I reccommend a local card shop to buy from because then your boys will get the full collecting experience but if you want to buy online I always buy my boxes online at blowoutcards.com.
