Expo 1/1s....What do you think
This isnt actually just about the Fall Expo 09 1/1s but any show card....
How can they put this as a 1/1? It is exactly the same as a regular issued card. I think they should make it some variation of the card. But in reality, it looks like just the extra cards laying around that get a stamp on it and labeled 1/1 or worse yet, something they PLANNED to do therefore making more than the stated # of cards. so your card could be #1/10 instead of #1/9. In trading and even in purchasing, I wouldnt trade/pay anywhere near the regular card price....
To me, its the same as a In-Person Auto....it doesnt add any BV to it, just personal value....
Dont get me wrong, I am not saying I will never collect these types of cards as I will collect all Expo/National issued cards for my player PC - as I am collecting all cards of Robitaille.....
Just my $.02
What do you think.....
(Please state your opinion on the card and process....no bashing in this thread)

I agree and think that Expo and show 1/1s have little if any value above the BV of the regular card. Just because you took a base card and put a gold stamp on it does not make it desireable. Pacific trading cards, at least once, took an entire set of Pacific Hockey and stamped each card 1/1 and gave the cards away like candy. Almost everybody got a 1/1, I guess the draw was trying to get big name players.
I also remember, on this board (i think), an eBay auction with a questionable 1/1 stamp. It was for a charitable group and it appeared that they had purchased their own foil stamps and simply wrote 1/1 on each. Heck! I can do that!
True 1/1 are pack pulled and, geography not withstanding, everyone has a shot at one. Not everyone can travel to Toronto or Vancouver or Chicago.Hidden Content

I personally cant stand Expo "1/1s".........I dont think they add value to the card, and I actually feel they Deter from the Cards, also not a fan of the "super Box" 1/1s that BAP puts in products. If you put 2 Identical cards side by side and is a an expo 1/1, and the other is not. I will by the non 1/1 EVERYTIME.....even if the price is BETTER on the "1/1......

It personally doesn't make me want the card any more or less. I bought a Drew Doughty game used emblem expo 1/1 off ebay because I absolutely loved the card and I actually won it for around $15. I am a big Doughty collector so that is why I bought it. IMO I wouldn't even consider it equal in bv to its real version because it isn't a part of the official set.

As a lot of the show-stamped 1/1s tend to look a lot better than an average card from the regular print run, be it a multi-colour swatch, the Team Superlative cards, etc., I think they are pretty cool little momentos for people who were at the show or for PC collectors. Would I drop top dollar for one? Based on past experience--maybe. I was able to get all of the Gorges show-stamped /10 cards for a pittance and a song, but I did pay $30 for a Carey Price 04-05 H&P Expo /10 card.
In the end, I see it as little more than a "thank you" to collectors who buy a box at the Expo. Obviously they're collectible, but not to the same extent as a true 1/1 out of a box break.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Was wondering about this also as I went to the spring expo and got a Carey Price 1/1 for opening the box there. Seen another game used emblem card of his and all was pretty well the same except the gold foil with spring expo 2009 1/1.
Like you say it is a better feeling pulling a 1/1 than just having 1 handed to you for opening a box. That said I am still glad they gave it to me.

Thanks for the input....
Unfortuantely they do not have Expos here in Los Angeles, so I can only get them through other sources but like I said, I only get them for the players I collect just to get all of their cards.....but I would like to see card companies do something different with these 1/1s....maybe a specially made set just for the Expo and then put one of one on it.....just saying if they want it to be special and a special thanks for buying...they should get a card that no one else has....

I've never been much of a fan of show stamped cards. It's a nice little gimmick, I guess.... just not my thing.

I would never buy one. I think they devalue the actual cards. UD does a good job of sometimes putting out those "priority signings" or whatever they are called cards that are actually made for the shows. ITG however just seems to stamp old stuff and throw it out there as something "new".

Thats what I was talking about before - If they did something different (like tghe Priority signings)....then its a different card - I agree with ITG though...
