    Premium Top Contenders inserts

I figured I'd make a post about this, after a conversation I had with Les about the Premium Top Contenders inserts. I know I was confused, as are a few others I know. First of all, I'm sure I still don't have all the info on this, so if anyone has anything to add, feel free.

The Top Contenders Insert odds were listed as 1:10, with no mention of there even being the parallel version, as according to the box. I'm sure many of you have come across them. I had (apparently wrongly) assumed that the parallel version featured the same holofoil background as the Finish Line, Rookie Debut, and Win Streak cards. That's where I went wrong.

To the best of my knowledge, here is how I believe it goes:

Top Contenders has a silver "Premium 09" logo and the variant is a solid background with a gold "Premium 09" logo. I have no idea as to the odds of pulling a gold Top Contenders. In the only box I bought, I got 1 of each and wasn't sure which one was which.

Just figured I'd put this out there for anyone who was equally confused (or was it just me LOL)

That is correct.....same goes with the Kenseth Zero card. The regular one has the silver Premium logo, and the SP variant has the gold Premium logo.

I personally like the Silver version of the Top Contenders better than the "more rare" gold version

I 100% agree, which is why I thought the silver was the parallel!

LOL... yeah really... the card that is a little more "fancy" is the base insert while the plain 'ol foil card is the parallel. Go figure. Just glad to be able to figure that out with help from Pete (and ebay auctions, lol).

Funny though, I pulled two of the zero cards from my boxes but I sent the boxes back to Press Pass so I don't have them now. Both of my zero cards must have been the gold parallel versions because I remember that they were definately all gold foil and had gold PP logo's. Guess I didn't realize that there were two verisions of the zero card. Just more stuff to search for once I get my boxes back from Press Pass and can start collecting this set. Arrrgh!!!

I have seen far more gold 0 cards than silver, including my own.

Maybe they did just the opposite for the zero cards??? Just found it funny that two boxes I got both had the same card. Another questions for me to ask Press Pass about, lol
