    Need some help, please!

I bought a box of 02 UD Prospect Premieres at Sports Fest here in Chicago today. I think it was a retail box(not positive though).
It still said on the box that the odds of pulling a GU were 1:18, and pulling an auto is the same odds. 4 Cards per pack, 24 cards per box. Autographed XRC cards inserted 1 per box on average! Was what was on the side of the box.
I got absolutely nothing but sh*t in this box. The box was only $24 though.
I got no GU cards, no autos.
What do i do now? Do i send it back to UD or something and ask for another? Go back tomorrow to the dealer i bought it from and ask for an explanation?

Any help you can provide i would greatly appreciate.

    thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Hey Peter,

Well.....this is what I would do if it were me:

I would go back tomorrow, box of crap in hand, and stand and wait till there are a ton of customers around the table, THEN go up there, and, calmly, tell him what happened (but make sure all the customers can hear). Either one of two things will happen....either he will tell you oh well, and if that happens, the customers, if they have good sense, will clear out, or two, he will do something to appease you, and in the mean time probably increase his sales for his honesty. If you don't get satisfaction, at least it was only $24, and the other customers will probably think twice, thus costing him alot more in the long run!!

    Good Luck!!

    Peace,
    Rima

there is a disclaimer on the side of every box that states something like this:

"..stated odds are based on an entire production run, not the contents of any individual box or case. This box does not necessarily contain a complete set of basic or insert cards.."

as long as the box wasn't tampered with, or the packs opened and re-sealed, there's not much to be done, as it's not the dealer's fault there were no good cards in the box.

Now, did you buy the box sealed, or was it opened?

The reason is that dealers will open boxes, weigh every single pack. The ones with GU, AU, will weigh slightly more than packs without them.

Thus, a corrupt dealer will weigh all the packs, then stick 24 packs that he's reasonably sure doesn't have GU, and sell that box.

The key is to buy SEALED boxes, not boxes that have been opened, as the dealers often can figure out ways to find GU cards in packs without opening the packs themselves

Every box of UD PP I have bought had the one auto/GU in the box. If you bought this unopened, the seller took out the good stuff.

Isn't it possible to re seal the box if you have access to a shrink wrapper? Just curious :)

I think the box was shrink-wrapped. Another thing i neglected to mention- when i opened the box orange stickers were on each pack with the price of the pack-$2.99. The box was sealed though.
I think the orange stickers on each pack mean the box was opened by the dealer, and i got ripped.
I would go back there today, but the price of admission- $10, im not sure if that is worth it, especially if he doesnt do anything about it.

I have had expericne with this before. I bought a box that looked sealed, and I got nothing but crap, in a box that should have had great cards. I went back to the dealer, and asked him about it and just kept bugging him about it until he admitted he searched through a few boxes. No everytime I go back there nobody ever buys boxes there because they all heard about what hap[penned.

    Rima,
Nope, i really didn't think it was worth it to pay the $10 just to make a scene. Plus, i really am not the kinda person to make a scene. I just hope that the dealer really feels good about ripping a 15 year old off, hopefully his guilty conscious will haunt him for the rest of his life. lol. Doubt that will happen, but at least i did learn a lesson about buying boxes at shows...

    Rima,
btw, did you happen to get my cards from the trade?
I got yours on Friday or Saturday. Thanks for the trade, really like the cards. I will be giving you feedback later tonight, please do the same if you have time.

    Thanks,
    Peter
