Apples and oranges.
You are comparing sitting down and standing up, to some pretty outrageous anti-Obama remarks that have been made on this forum and in society at large.

I'm comparing respecting the office of President to respecting the office of President. Yes, the respect or disrespect can come in many forms, but it's the same general concept. Are the reporters standing up just to see Obama better? Were their butts hurting? No, they're standing up to show him respect, which they didn't do for Bush.

Let me make an analogy:
A police over pulls a speeding driver over. The sitting/standing up crap is like going 1-2 mph over the speed limit. Some of the anti-Obama remarks I have seen is more like going 20-25 mph over the speed limit. Yes, they both can get speeding tickets but would you really compare the two as equal offenses?
Anyway, clearly you see sitting down as a sign of blatant disrespect. I see it as something worthless and overblown.

I agree, it's not a huge deal. But as you said, there are many examples of the liberal media bias...this is just another on a long list, but it is on the list.
And actually I don't care if they stand or sit. Standing when someone enters the room is a sign of respect, that's commonly understood, but it is just a small jesture and I really wouldn't care either way...as you said, not a big deal. The point being made is that the media never bothered to show that respect to Bush, yet they do Obama. It's the difference that's the problem. I wouldn't care if they stood for both or sat for both, as long as they did it the same for both. As we've both said, it's just a small symptom of the larger disease...it's the disease that's the issue here. And defenders all to often focus on the symptoms and say "oh no big deal" while ignoring the disease.

I love it when someones personal bias causes them to get so worked up without knowing anything on the subject.

Thank you for that, Red, very helpful. So apparently it was just a misunderstanding by the newer press members...I'm happy to see that.
I love when people contribute nothing but derisive comments to a conversation instead of sharing their apparent infinite wisdom.

Oh come on, I rarely make smug comments. Let me just enjoy it and for the record, I do have infinite wisdom. Fact.

Glad to be of assistance
I just posted that because it related to the thread...it's not to be taken as the final opinion on the subject.
I don't doubt it
