Alright you guys I'm sorry I tried to speak my mind, I should of known I can't say anything a little questionable without getting flamed by multiple members...

I think we need a favorite members contest in a few months again :) i am now in an elite group and atrain isnt
but yes, there was aton of planning before we even started it!

I think people can post up whatever contest they want regardless of interest, although it would be nice to make contests with lots of interest.

Yea I have nothing against people posting up there contest just what you said kinda... There's not enough interest...

That's the thing though... There's so many of them there not special anymore, there's no hype or talk about them, nobody advertising in there sig or spreading the word. Most people just do a simple vote and don't think about it again. And BTW I never made a reference or anything to you...

I'm sorry, but I can't let you take credit for starting these. I'm not taking credit either, mind you, but there was a rash of these a long time ago, probably before you were even a member. It died off for a while because people started doing too many and everyone got tired of them...just like what will happen this time as well.
And also, you were getting more votes because yours was a topic that more people on the site cared about. They saw the advertisement in your sig and wanted to vote for their favorite member. I saw a lot of people voting and commenting that I had never seen in Chit-Chat before, they had come in just for that. The other polls aren't advertised and don't appeal to as wide of an audience, only people who already visit Chit-Chat even see that they're going.
Yes, it does get old, everyone will get tired of them, and they'll eventually go away for a while. Then in a few months someone will post a new one of some kind and it will start back up again...that's how it goes. I post a lot of them and I also have beefs with some of them, but if somebody wants to post, let them post. When people stop voting on them, then they'll go away. If people are still voting and commenting, apparently they still want to have them around.

I said that contest sparked a flurry of other contests, not that I made the idea.

Just stop with this. You are embarrassing yourself. The whole reason the best member contest was popular was because for everyone involved in it, it was one giant circle jerk, ego stroking, narcissistic contest, much like what you are trying to do with this thread. People spammed every section of this forum for a few measly votes so they could feel that much better about there lives, because they are liked on an internet message board.
Do the contests need to stop? Maybe, and they will eventually. But this topic is by far more pointless than any of those will ever be.
