SP Authentic Patch Question
I was fortunate enough to pull a Michael Frolik 08-09 SP Authentic Limtied Patch 64/100 today. The patch has four colors and two pieces of the Panther claw on it. It looks SIMILAR to this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/MICHAEL-FROLIK-08-09-SP-AUTHENTIC-AUTO-PATCH-RC-100-SP_W0QQitemZ260397210831QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_SM_S ports_Cards?hash=item3ca0e21ccf&_trksid=p3286.c0.m 14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A13%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A131 8%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
The patch I pulled looks better than the ones on eBay. These cards sell on ebay from anywhere from $40 to $80.
I was offered in trade, a Jonathan Ericsson 08-09 SP Authentic Limited Patch /100 with part of the Red Wings wheel in the patch for this card straight up.
HOWEVER, I can't find an Ericsson patch card on eBay to compare the prices to make sure this is an even trade.
Has anyone seen or heard any sales of an Ericsson patch card that isn't all white (like the ones on ebay?) If so, how much.
Also, do the Frolik patches sell well because the colors?
Do you tihkn this is an even trade?
Thank you in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

When making a deal I ask myself - will I miss this card more than I will enjoy the new one? That often comes before BV's or potential re-sale values, largely because most of the stuff in my PC isn't going anywhere anytime soon. At the end of the day, yeah the Frolik patch may be cool, but how often are you going to get a crack at the Ericsson if you really want it?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Yeah, I ran into a similar situation when selling a card here recently. There were some sales on eBay, but my patch was VERY nice. In the end I was offered a fair deal and took it. It is a bit odd going without market guidance, but this sounds like a fair trade to me. Especially when there are 3 cards out on eBay and their all white. IMO Frolik > Ericcson, but Red Wings tend to be more collected than Panthers.

I think you're doing alright with that trade. Especially if you're a Red Wings / Ericsson. Obviously if one of these two guys has a break out season next year, the year after...whenever.... the values of these two cards could develop a gap.
Go with what RGM said. Really, are you going to miss the Frolik if it's gone? Are you trading for the Ericsson becuase you want it? If you're getting that Ericsson for your PC, and the the Frolik will otherwise just be a high end trader.... I think you're doing fine.
Similar situation for myself..... I pulled a Valamov YG Exculsives in a box break of Series 2 Upper Deck (this was back in February). I didn't think much of the card, other than the fact that I could sell it on the bay, and probably get $30 for (cover half the cost of my box). Another trader on here offered my a nice Grant Fuhr Auto from UD Black for it (Game Day ticket #ed/25). I canceled the auction, and made the deal.
Now.... I'll admit I'm kicking myself a little bit for it right now. Had I held onto the card, I could be selling it for (likely) over $100 right now. That would have been enough to buy a similar Fuhr, and have lots left over :)
At the same time, I moved a card that I didn't really have much of a use for, for a card I quite like. The current sale value is the only thing that's making me second guess myself. At the end of the day, I'm still pretty sure that that Varlamov won't fetch more than $35 come this time next year, and I've still got the Fuhr auto I wanted.
I don't know what to tell you for sure. Certainly if Frolik turns into a star, the card has the potential to jump in value. You think that's going to happen? If you're not comfortable with the deal, walk away. If you want the Ericsson, what do you have to worry about? In a year's time there might be a $20 or $30 gap in BV? If that's the concern, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thats a nice patch it part of the right side of the Panthers mouth (you have one top and bottom tooth showing.) and I would say its a premium piece so should be at the HI end of the price range. Frolik is selling well so I would not trade 1 for 1 for he card you stated unless its a big pc want
