The sad part is, this is the second AHL team to drop Iowa in as many years, as Dallas dropped Des Moines last year. It's my understanding that the managing group that owns the Chops owes Anaheim beaucoup bucks, after having not paid them for anything all season.

What also hurts, is it's going to find another affiliate this late (training camps open in September), plus, who wants an affiliate that doesn't pay its parent team.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Anaheim Ducks have pulled out of their deal with the Iowa Chops, both teams have confirmed.

"The Ducks' affiliation with the Iowa Chops of the American Hockey League has ended," read a message on the Ducks' Web site on Sunday. "The Ducks are currently working on establishing a new AHL affiliate or affiliates."
