Sooner Nation Loses legend.
Well, I am speechless right now. Just found out that one of the greatest College basketball players of all time, and an NBA veteran passed away this morning. Wayman was the reason, I started following basketball as a kid. OU had retired his jersey after he played here, but the number was unretired this year, after Blake Griffin personally called him, and asked if he could wear #23. He is widely considered the best player to ever wear an Oklahoma jersey. He has been battling Cancer, and everyone thought he was well on his way to recovery despite, losing his leg earlier this year. This is a sad day for the Sooner Nation. Wayman Tisdale was a great person, and one of my first child hood heros! RIP Wayman Tisdale!!!
As a college player at Oklahoma from 1983 to 1985, he was a three-time All-American, and at that time was the only Division I basketball player history to be voted All-America his freshman season (Kevin Durant was the 2nd in College basketball history to accomplish this feat in 2007). Tisdale was also the first freshman to become an All-American, sophomore and junior seasons. He still holds the record at Oklahoma for the most points scored by any player through their freshman and sophomore seasons. He won a gold medal as a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic basketball team coached by Indiana University's Bobby Knight, and the Indiana Pacers made Tisdale the second overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft.
As a center and power forward, Tisdale averaged over 15 points and six rebounds per game in a 12-season professional career with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns. His best season was in 1989-90 with the Kings, when he averaged 22.3 points and 7.5 rebounds a game. Tisdale and Mitch "The Rock" Richmond combined to one of the most dynamic duos in the NBA. In 1997, Tisdale retired to focus on his musical career.

yeah aside from basketball he was also musically skilled as well
for those that aren't too familiar with him, or those that are and want to see a cool clip check out this one with him and his album. 7+ minute video and the guy does not stop smiling the entire time, absolutely positive and loving his life

R.I.P. Wayman Tisdale. A great player back in his days and a devoted musician after his playing days.
