A selfish hobby
I cannot believe how selfish this hobby is. If someone needs a set killer, people tried to get 3X BV for it. And I just tried to make a deal for a HUGE PC card I want, I mentioned to him I really wanted this card, hoping he would try to make a deal, instead he asks for 2X BV... All I do is send RGM81 (Richard) a free GU PC card just because I didn't find anything I need. I ALWAYS try to make a deal with someone if I have a card they need, and the deal will be fair... not jacking up your asking price just because i REALLY want a card. Some people are just selfish. Sorry for the rant.. I won't lie, this hobby for me is going down hill. I still love it.. just not as much

I have seen both sides of this. Some do as you said and try to take you for all you are worth.
The other that I have seen in the last week (posted a trade link for Alfedsson for my 10 yr old daughter) Have had several people ask for my address so they can just send them to her. I have also made some trades for some and the bubble mailer has arrived just stuffed full. Or other trades where they send loads of extra's
So I do see what you are saying (your not wrong). But there are other's that do the exact opposite. (as you said you have done)
just my 10 cents.

Now now....no generalization. For every bad examples, I could probably find you 3 good ones. Just move on and remember not to waste time on those people in the future...
Today, I got home to find another example of how unselfish the hobby is. Had a bubble mailer and inside was a BTP triple jersey past present and future of the Avs, so yup a nice PC card for me (Roy is on it of course) and i didnt have to give anything for it...Standing ovation for Enigma please!
Chin up, there are always good people around!

Oh I know, I make many deals with people who help my PC grow, but I always notice the Great people and the bad people. And it bothers me that people are in this hobby to
A) Low-ball
B) Always want in their favor (most of the time)
C) Money

Well cant argue with that one, people do have different motivations and there is unfortunately nothing we can do to change that...I do think we have plenty of people on SCF that are here for none of the ones you state but for the love of the hobby...

I would say 90% are on here for the hobby, maybe more. Don't get me wrong. But, like I said, I notice the little things from great and bad people.

Sadly not just in this hobby. As Karine said we just move on and hope to find it somplace else.
I think it is nice to be able to help someone finish a set. (Pay it forward

wow sorry to hear people do that... I love helping people add to their PC. If someone wants a card I have I will try my hardest to find something that they have that I want. And if i dont I have offered to put that card aside for them until they get something I would be interested in.

Of course it can be the complete opposite.
I have had potential traders send me a request for a trade. They see a nice autograph or game-used/race-used card that they need for their set.
I usually try to work a deal, but you can't expect me to let a $100.00 autograph go for a "nice mixture of base cards and inserts" (I have actually had an offer like that).
I don't mind down-trading...but you do have to be realistic.
It's not fair to gouge the trader, but remember, if you want it bad enough you will do whatever it takes to work the trade. I AM NOT defending those that gouge...just saying...I have been known to trade that little extra to get the card I need.
