    Who to Collect?

I'm new to Hockey but sure most of you know who i am already..lol

I'm looking for a guy who isnt garbage, but not a superstar, someone who is a lowend guy, more underrated so i can get singles that wont cost to much, i'd like the player to have a nice amount of cards out there already as well

    any suggestions would be great!

I would go with someone along the line of Eric Staal. Of course his play this season not going to help. Best thing is to find a reason why you like a player. Be it someones that from a local college near ya, a game that makes ya go wow, etc. Best of luck on finding a hockey player to collect.

    Good luck at the show.

I might be a little bit biased, but Andrew Cogliano would be a pretty good player to collect. He's not overly expensive and has plenty of upside. I would collect him too if I had the funds to afford a collection of both him and Gagner.

AND he played for Michigan in college, so he's sort of a "hometown" boy for you.

How about a young guy that has loads of potential? IMO a couple good ones to watch are Colton Gillies (Wild) and James Sheppard (Wild). Also, guys like Travis Zajac (Devils), Nikolai Zherdev (Rangers), Lee Stempniak (Leafs), etc. Or you could go the prospect route with guys like Max Pacioretty (Canadiens), Jiri Tlusty (Leafs), Corey Crawford (Hawks), Josh Bailey (Islanders), etc. I like going with guys that are stars now and will be stars in the future, for example, Kane, Toews, Crosby, Stamkos, Mueller, Bogosian, Brassard, Frolik, Boedker, etc.

Two solid young up-and-comers that I'd give some serious consideration to are the Phoenix (for now) Coyotes' Martin Hanzal, and the New Jersey Devils' Nicklas Bergfors. Both players have tremendous offensive potential, but have yet to start turning heads, so they're cards are quite cheap, and really, can only rise in value.

Hanzal is a part of a very deep core of will-be offensive studs in the Coyotes organization, like Peter Mueller, Kyle Turris, Mikkel Boedker, and so on.
Bergfors remains the top prospect in the Devils' organization and he hasn't made the big club because of the depth they already had established this year, not due to a lack of talent or potential. Look for big things from Bergfors in 09-10.

    Another solid option.... Nathan Horton
