    Want to start collecting again

The problem is I haven't collected in so long I don't know which sets I should buy. I would like to get rookie autos/patches and higher end cards.. ie/ Kane/Toews/Stamkos/Tavares etc.. rookie autos.. as well as any Staal brother.. I'm in Thunder Bay if you couldnt tell by that. So if anyone could tell me the better sets to collect that would be helpful. thanks

I only started collecting less than a year ago, I would say if you want to try and make money it's a pretty arduous task and you have to commit a lot of time and $$$$. But if you are just in it to have fun and collect sets, lower-end products like OPC and the flagship UD Series 1 and 2 are the way to go, since they have the largest amounts of players to collect.

I'm not really looking to make money, that would just be a good side effect. I'm mainly looking for just the rookies and autos. I used to collect as a kid and have tonnes of worthless cards from the early 90's.. so I think upgrading the collection and getting rid of the bulk is good for me..

Yeah, I had all those '90s overproduced cards as well. Upper Deck Young Guns is a good and not uber-expensive rookie set to collect. BAP has an auto in each pack but you get a lot of middling players in those.

An auto in every pack, is there limited autos like 1 of 5? I've seen the young guns boxes for pretty cheap too.

it really depends on your budget. I mean if you have money to burn, Ultimate and The Cup have some really nice Patches and autos. Almost every set has patches and autos though, so you really cant go wrong if thats what you are looking for. You can also go to Upper Decks website and get checklists to see which sets have autos and patches for the players you want to collect. I was in the same boat as you like a month ago and just reading these forums and checking out the trading and box break section has been a huge help. Good luck!
