MAFIA: The Game

Hey everyone, a lot of you know the party game Mafia. There's a forum version you can play that's tons of fun that I've started playing on another forum and I thought it would be awesome to start a game here at SCF. This first Mafia game is going to be very simple, but if this one goes well I'll run some more one's with deeper plots and more different roles. I'll be moderating this first game but others can later help moderate games if they PM me.

Here's a write up of the basic roles we'll be using also:

Town

Townie
The townie is the basic role for the forces of good. During the day, the townie is involved with the discussion and vote to try to lynch the mafia. The townie usually has no night abilities and can not communicate with other players outside of the game. To win the townie must help eliminate all mafia and killing roles.

Cop
During the day, the cop is involved with the discussion and vote to try to lynch the mafia. Each night the cop can investigate another player to find out if the are innocent (pro-town) or guilty (pro-mafia). To win the cop must help the town eliminate all mafia and killing roles.
*Depending on the game variation, they can sometimes find out the players role also.

Doctor
During the day, the doctor is involved with the discussion and vote to try to lynch the mafia. Each night the doctor can choose one player to save from a night kill. To win the doctor must help the town eliminate all mafia and killing roles.
Generally the doctor can not heal (save) himself.
*If the player the doctor chooses is targeted by more than one killing role, the doctor usually can not save him.

Body guard
During the day, the bodyguard is involved with the discussion and vote to try to lynch the mafia. Each night the bodyguard will pick one person to protect from being attacked. The bodyguard will follow this person if they leave their house to keep an eye on them. To win the bodyguard must help the town eliminate all mafia and killing roles.
If the player the bodyguard chooses gets attacked, the out come could be:
50% chance the bodyguard will sacrifice himself and die
25% chance the bodyguard will live and kill the attacker
25% chance the bodyguard will live, he will fight off the attacker and know who it was

Role Blocker

Can choose to block one person's role's abilty for the night. (i.e. if they chose the doctor, they couldn't save anyone, if they chose a mafia member, they couldn't kill anyone, etc.)

Mafia

Godfather
The Godfather usually heads a mafia family and is responsible to send the choice of victim to the game MOD. To win the Godfather and his mafia members must elimate other killing roles and equal or out number the townies left.
The Godfather usually appears innocent when investigated by cops.

Goon
The members of a mafia family usually know each other and can talk outside of the game. Each night phase, they choose a victim from the rest of that players. It can be a collective decision or dictated by a specific player. When day breaks the victim is dead, provided there is no interference from another role. The goal for the mafia is to survive while killing off the town people. To win the mafia members must elimate other killing roles and equal or out number the townies left.

Variation (maybe used in later games?):

Multiple Mafia families: to have two (or more) Mafia families. Each family operates separately and are not on the same side. A mafia family only wins when the other family (families) are wiped out and they outnumber the town people left.
