    We have our LOA!

    We just received our Letter of Acceptance for China today! Not that our son was not ours, this was just a pretty big hurtle to jump. Things will start to move relatively fast now and we still may yet travel this summer!

    Congrats man, that's awesome!!!

    Friends of ours just got their letter from Ethiopia last week, they expect to have their new son within a month or so!! They adopted from Guatamala the last time and man .. it seemed like it took FOREVER!!!

    Great news for you, i dont understand why people go out of country to adopt, when there are so many right here in the US that need the love of a family.

    There are a lot of reasons why but the main one I've heard is that the chances of that child being taken back from you because the "parent" that gave them up for adoption changes their mind is a lot higher in the US than it is outside of the US.

    Plus it is SUPER EXPENSIVE to adopt stateside, and like you said there is always the chance the child can go back. My in-laws were foster parents and it seemed like everytime they were about to adopt someone (family) came and took the kids, its tough, but worth it. My buddy adopted his son from the Philipines.

    Guess it depends on what you go through, we adopted our daughter and it didnt cost more than a couple hundred bux

    I have hear out of country adoptions are very expensive, especially when you have to travel back and fourth

    Dont mean to take away from the topic, just wondered why people do it
