Anyones opinion is welcome
This is something that has been bother me for a couple days, and anyone and I mean anyone's opinion is welcome. But people who have played in a band before might know where I am coming from.
I played in a band for 3 years as a bassist and towards the end things got real nasty between me and my lead guitarist I won't go into detail but needless to say not a word was spoken between use for 4 years after I left the band. Over the last 4 years the lineup changed and all my other band members had left over time except for the Guitarist I had a falling out with. After they all left I figured thats the end of the band. But he kept things going with replacement members. But here is where things get kind of strange. Over the last few months the lineup of my old band has gone back to the "Original Lineup" Drummer,Keyboardist both returned to the band, and in my myspace the other day they mentioned that there current bassist had left the band, and they wanted to know if I wanted to come back. I have talked to the member I had a falling out with. Things seemed to be ok with us. But I really can't go back because of what happened. But at the same time I can't help but think if the spark we all had together can be rekindeld. So should I keep on going with this hatered for this guy, or try to put things behind me and see what if anything can be made out of this.

I would say put it behind you, unless you still go back and he's still being a jerk and all. Then you can leave.

put it behind you man, everyone has fallouts with people. Just man up and say sorry, give a man hug and rock on.

It all depends on the situation that made you leave the band in bad terms with that member.

If you still play the bass, offer to play a few songs with the other guys. If everyone can agree that the music being played is good, then I would consider you a successful band. If things get heated up, you can tell them that it's not going to work out but that you would still like to be friends with those guys.

IMO - I liken this to a broken relationship. JSYK, I have been where you are at, almost exactly execpt to a lilltle lesser extent as we were all just teenagers at the time. Anyways, I tend to see your situation like an ex girlfriend (and who hasn't been there) where you know the relationship doesn't work but for some reason you keep giving it a "try" because.....well there could be a million reasons. My advice is to leave stuff from the past, in the past.
I hope that makes sense, I am having a hard time articulating what I mean.

i understand what you mean Crater, i kind of fall on your side with this. unless you really want to go back and play and are willing to put it behind you then you should go for it

I personally agree with angel here. It really depends on the situation that made you leave in the first place. If you feel that you will be able to put it behind you, then I say put it in the past and move on, but if it was something you won't be able to put behind you, then I say just stay out, because most likely something will happen that would cause another argument (or whatever situation it was) and you will be back to where you were.
