Off-Season Game Plan: Rangers
By Scott Cullen
The New York Rangers played well under the stewardship of John Tortorella, earning a playoff spot and pushing the Washington Capitals to seven games in the first round.
Off-Season Game Plan looks at what promises to be a challenging summer for the Rangers, as some of the ill-advised high-priced contracts on the roster already could pose challenges when it comes to summer acquisitions.

they need to get rid of Redden somehow. He is just not worth his salary. Which is why i doubt they can actually get rid of him... Also there is speculation that Zherdev will leave to go to the Russian league where his play style can be more productive.

Redden can not be moved because of his contract. It is THAT bad. What I have heard is that they are trying to package both Staal and Dubinsky along with Redden to entice other teams, yet their is still not much interest. Naslund retiring helps a bit with the cap, but I think it is necessary for the Rangers to move Gomez in order to make a run at Kovalchuk next summer.

yeah they are going to have to dump more young talent because of this old man who cant keep up with the league anymore.. Even if they place him on waivers or something if they can they still gotta pay him until someone else claims him which he probably isnt even worth half his salary..
