    Today in Nascar History June 1st:

    Winners on this date: Gober Sosebee, Tim Flock, Paul Goldsmith, Eddie Gray, Bobby Isaac, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Ricky Rudd, Ryan Newman, and Kyle Busch.

    June 1st, 1958: Riverside International Raceway opens with 3 500 mile races in one weekend. Eddie Gray wins the Grand National (Cup Series) event that takes over 6 hours to finish.



    June 1st, 1997: Ricky Rudd avoids the carnage and takes advantage of problems late for leaders Mark Martin and Ernie Irvan and takes the win at Dover.



    June 1st, 2003: Ryan Newman dominates at Dover and easily tames the Monster Mile for the victory.



    June 1st, 2008: Kyle Busch dominates the second half of the race and easily beats 2nd place finisher Carl Edwards to take the win at Dover.

    June 2nd, 1963: Fred Lorenzen assumes the lead with 4 laps to go in the World 600 and goes on to win the event. Junior Johnson is in the lead late, but a blown tire allows Lorenzen to take 1st.

    Winners on this date: Herb Thomas, Dick Hutcherson, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Terry Labonte, Derrike Cope, and Jeff Gordon.

    June 3rd, 1956: Herb Thomas breezes to victory in Merced, CA. The win gives his team owner Carl Kiekhaefer and his team their 16th consecutive win in the Grand National (Cup) series, a record likely never to be broken.

    Winners on this date: Bob Flock, Ned Jarrett, Elmo Langley, Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Kyle Petty, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, and Martin Truex Jr.

    June 4th, 1966: Independent driver Elmo Langley takes the victory at Spartanburg, SC. It is his first career win.



    June 4th, 1995: Kyle Petty breaks a 60 race winless streak by taming the new freshly concreted Dover International Speedway-Petty is helped out when right at the start of the race close to half the field is taken out in a massive accident. (I remember this one-it was huge!!) and major LOL at Mark Martin's quote haha.

    June 4th, 2006: Matt Kenseth passes teammate Jamie McMurray as the 2 duel late in the going and Kenseth goes on to the win at Dover.



    June 4th, 2007: On a cloudy Monday when Nascar mourns the loss of Bill France Jr, Martin Truex Jr shines bright and wins the rain delayed event at Dover, his first career Cup Series win.

    Today in Nascar History June 6th:

    Winners on this date: Bob Flock, Curtis Turner, Ned Jarrett, Richard Petty (2 times), Bobby Allison (2 times), Dale Earnhardt, Terry Labonte, Bobby Labonte, and Mark Martin.

    June 6th, 1998: Terry Labonte nudges Dale Jarrett out of the lead with 3 laps remainingand goes on to win at Richmond. Jeff Gordon is strong all day but Rusty Wallace punts the #24 into the wall with 28 laps remaining, opening the door for Labonte and Jarrett.



    June 6th, 2004: Veteran Mark Martin wins at Dover. He smartly takes care of his car as the Monster MIle chews up countless racers during the event:

    Today in Nascar History June 7th:

    Winners on this date: Lee Petty, Ned Jarrett, Cale Yarborough, Benny Parsons, Ernie Irvan, and Tony Stewart.

    June 7th, 1981: Benny Parsons holds off Dale Earnhardt to win at Texas World Speedway. Only 18,000 people come to the event, bad signs for the struggling racetrack.

    June 7th, 1992: Ernie Irvan takes the win at Sonoma on a somber day for Nascar as Nascar founder Bill France passes away at the age of 82.



    June 7th, 2009: Owner-driver Tony Stewart overcomes starting dead last in a back up car after wrecking in practice and holds off Carl Edwards in a fule mileage derby to win at Pocono. It is the first points win for Stewart and his team-Stewart-Haas Racing, and Smoke retains his points lead. The race is also a landmark for Nascar as it is the first which incorporates the new double file restart rule, much to the fans delight.

    Today in Nascar History June 9th:

    Winners on this date: Richard Petty, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Bill Elliott, Davey Allison, and Dale Jarrett.

    June 9th, 1991: Ricky Rudd finishes 1st but Nascar penalizes him for spinning out leader Davey Allison in turn 11 coming to the white flag-Allison crosses the line 4 seconds behind in 2nd place after getting spun out but is awarded the win due to Nascar's view on Rudd's aggressive driving. This was an infamous race-some people call it "the Ricky Rudd Screw-job."

    You be the judge haha-first in this vid youll see Mark Martin and leader Tommy Kendall tangle which opens the door for Rudd and Allison-wild last 4 laps!

    Winners on this date:

    Tim Flock, Junior Johnson, Ralph Moody, Rex White, Fred Lorenzen, Bobby Allison (2 times), Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Rusty Wallace, and Jeff Gordon (2 times).

    June 10th, 1956: Ralph Moody wins at West Memphis Speedway, ending the Kiekhaefer team's 16 race winning streak. Clint McHugh and Cotton Priddy are both killed in crashes during the race weekend.



    June 10th, 1984: Bill Elliott passes Terry Labonte with 8 laps to go and goes on to win at Michigan. It is Elliott's first career win on a superspeedway.



    June 10th, 1990: Rusty Wallace wins again at Sonoma making it 5 wins in the last 7 road course events for the Cup series.



    June 10th, 2007: Jeff Gordon win at Pocono as he lucks out when rain halts the Pocono 500 and eventually leads to the race being called. Gordon is about to be passed by Ryan Newman when the caution comes out.
