Maybe people have a problem with Emilio Estevez, just kidding. Back to the topic at hand. As many posts before stated, they are at least in the top 3 if not the top Dirtiest team in the league. Thank you Mr Pronger. That pretty much sums up there hatred. But on a brighter note, they do have Getzlaf and a few others, Ryan,Selanne.

Because they are a physical hockey team that has had a great deal on success in the past 5 years or so.

Nothing is wrong with being physical...its the matter of lots of dirty/illegal hits. I dont think anyone has a problem with the Ducks hitting cleanly and often. Ex. Mike brown on Jiri Hudler...hit to the head.

They are hated because they are a great team
I agree that they do have some dirty players, and play dirty at times, but that doesn't mean they all are that way.
Getzlaf is one of the top players in the league that really doesn't get the credit he deserves, and Niedermeyer is a great leader IMO. They are a solid all around team and are tough to play against
Plus a lot of the people who bash them on this site, their team of choice is a rival to the Ducks.

the consensus to me is that pronger is the cause of the ducks being a dirty team or thought of as one, if they got rid of him (by the way which would make me happy not a fan of his) would they be less of a dirty team and more respected? because i dont think a lot of the other players are known for being dirty except him.

I agree about getzlaf...however I do not think they are hated because they are a "great team". I think they are a good team and I have no problem with that. However I would attribute some of their success to the fact that they get away with a lot of illegal stuff that the refs don't call simply because they take SO many penalties, and they cant put a team in the box for the whole game. Aside from getzlaf, perry, selanne, neidermeyer, and their extrmely streaky/hot gigantic goalies...I dont think the ducks are very good at all.

you're REALLY saying they're successful cause of bad reffing??? that just takes everything to a whole other level....
the ducks are good team without a doubt but they do play dirty. and plus theres this

I believe Jonas Hiller played spectacular and he's far from gigantic, in fact he's using Koho pads that are extremely skinny that are a few years old
Add Bobby Ryan to that list of players, he's a great young kid and has a bright future ahead of him

cause? i just hate them. i hate the sharks more. its very easy to hate a whole team. and again the only duck i respect is getzlaf.
