Poll: Lower marks for Obama on spending, deficit

Poll: Lower marks for Obama on spending, deficit

Obama enjoys a 61 percent job approval rating, and 67 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the president, according to the Gallup poll released Monday.

On the deficit, the public seems split, but the trend shows a general souring towards Obama's economic agenda: 48 percent now disapprove of the president's approach to dealing with the deficit, while 46 percent approve — a statistical split. Fifty-one percent disapprove of his approach to reining in federal spending, while 45 percent approve.

Not a shocker.... What is though is people still aprove of his job even though they dont agree with what he is doing... Makes no sense.. 61 percent aproval rating yet less than half are favorable of his fiscal choices, most are mad about gitmo, Most are unsatisfied with the current economic state including job loss, most are not happy about the way he has conducted trips to the middle east and europe... Yet we still love him as president... He is the hope for change

I think people can disagree with some of his decisions yet still approve that he is giving a full effort. I think he's doing his best at getting the U.S. out of its hole, but just doing it at a faster rate than most would want. Honestly with the holes that were put in before he was even elected I don't even think it would take his whole term in order to right the ship

Someday people will stop trying to pass blame to bush... Bush didnt spend the trillions of dollars or make policies that are putting our grandchildren in debt. He may have started the bailouts and cheats on wall street but obama has done nothing to change it.. only put his tax cheating buddies in for more of the same

That's exactly what I was thinking..."We don't like what he's doing, but he's still one rad dude!"

I think people can disagree with some of his decisions yet still approve that he is giving a full effort.

If his full effort is failing miserably, I do not approve of it and no one should. That simply means he's not good enough.

its surprising especially people from here would complain or question Obama or Bush. I mean we all are card collectors, we all complain about how inept each of the card companies are yet we are supporting them with each pack/box/case that we buy

The card companies get my money by choice, not by force. If I choose to support ineptness, that's my fault...I'm not as happy when it's forced upon me.

My thoughts exactly... If i got to choose whether or not i support the president by whether or not i pay my taxes this year the story would be a little different, but when these political nightmares spend my money without listening to my voice it tends to be a little irritating. Im not saying bush has nothing to do with it either... but defending obama by blaming bush is not an excuse.

Digging the US out of a hole? As compared to what? The US a few years ago? You cannot be referring to the US as compared to other countries right now because even our unemployed have a higher standard of living than most employed workers in the world. We're struggling oh so very much. I'm not rich and played golf today.

Didn't the Obaminator throw a bunch of money at the car companies? I'm not really following anymore to be honest, but it seems as though nothing has improved with them. In fact, things have gotten worse (Chrysler). So, the Obaminator gave them billions of our dollars which have done nothing. Heck, we could've at least bought some extra toilet paper or something with that kind of dough if we were left to our own devices.

It makes perfect sense. Just because you like him as president doesn't mean you think everything he does is gold. You can agree with him overall and still have disagreements to specific ideas or plans that he has implemented.

of course, you can still bash him on his campaign slogans. LOL
