Crew Chief Suspended for Racial Slur
The crew chief for Nationwide Series driver Brendan Gaughan was suspended indefinitely Thursday for using a racial slur about rival driver Marc Davis, who is black. Bryan Berry apparently used the slur as he walked toward the Nashville Speedway garage to confront Davis during Saturday night's race. At least two people heard the slur and reported it to NASCAR, which investigated the claims before suspending Berry.
As long as this happens NASCAR will never be taken seriously as a sport. Most people who don't watch NASCAR and even some of those who do think that is the way most of the people are in NASCAR, at least the Southern people. It doesn't happen alot that we know of but that is mainly b/c there are not a lot of minorities in the sport. I think it would happen more if there was. Depending on what he said I think he should be suspended for the next 6 races at least. NASCAR must do this to help their image. They already have had so many issues hurting the sport over the last couple of years they cannot afford something like this. This brings alot of bad attention and will hurt the growth overall. NASCAR has definitely evolved from what it use to be and that has help grow the sport but they are stuck where they are at and starting to slip.
These kinds of things make the sport look like a bunch of un-educated rednecks. The sport has done a considerable amount of growth away from that but this will only reinforce it and at this time when NASCAR is already hurting they cannot afford it.

I agree. That kind of stuff shouldnt be tolerated anywhere ever in society-and especially not Nascar.
