Leafs gm burke rips heatley, agents for trade request
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke let it be known that the Leafs will not be in on the Dany Heatley sweepstakes, and he pulled no punches along the way.
In a phone interview with Deb Placey and Billy Jaffe on NHL Live! broadcast on the NHL network, Burke stated that the Leafs had no interest in the two-time 50 goal scorer, largely because of the way he has chosen to handle his trade request.
"We're not going to be in on that," Burke stated. "He's a good player but I have certain guidelines on how players ask for trades."

lol. I was going to say the exact same thing.
I think what Burke really means is "I don't have the assets to deal for a player of this calibre, and Ottawa certainly shouldn't want to deal him inside the division anyway..... so I'm going to be critical of him. That way Leaf Nation won't ask me why I didn't trade for Danny Heatly".

Exactly. Brian Burke hates offer sheets becuase he's never given one out himself.
If Burke was in a position to strengthen his team with an RFA offer sheet, you know he'd do it. He'd be a fool not to.

Why didn't the hosts ask that questions to Burke? Would have loved to heard his answer.
