I finally went through six full boxes of all kinds of stuff. It was enjoyable. Time consuming, but I found a bunch of interesting stuff in there. Now, I'm going to get myself a bunch of 5,000 count boxes and sort them by team. It's going to be a big task, but in the long run, I'll have an easier time trading with SCF forum members!

Thanks for all the input! I have decided that I will sort my base by team, then by players last name, so I can trade them easily by team and/or player! So, thanks for helping me in my decision!

I do it by team except for Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. I put them in a binder. I throw all the teams in a box separated by team except for all Saints and Colts Besides Manning and Brees. I put Saints and Colts in a binder as well.

Year and set. I cleared out a lot of my base last year, so I just have 07/08 and 08/09 basketball left - except for the 04/05 Fleer stuff I just broke tonight :)

Nearly all of my stuff is football. I sort it chronologically, and then alphabetically by set. The sets that I am building, or the ones that I am most fond of, I put all of the set I have in pages. The other sets, I will put some of the set in pages, but the commons I keep sorted in boxes...

Now, for the duplicates... Patriots & Broncos are pulled in put in their team binder (for players I am especially fond of, that includes Randy Moss cards with the Vikings & Raiders, and Jake Plummer cards with the Cardinals, etc...). Then, the remainder of the dupes are sorted by position and by player by the following criteria: Status (former players, Brett Favre, current players), Popularity (star, semi-star, regional star - usually defensive players that wouldn't be considered semi-stars, but would be in some locations, and commons), and finally alphabetically by last name.

RCs I treat a little differently. In the sets I build, I leave the RCs in the pages, no matter who it is. In the sets that I am especially fond of, but not as concerned with building, I leave the RCs in the pages, except for the higher end RCs which are top-loaded. For the dupes, I keep the RC dupes in a seperate box, sorted by the same dupe criteria...
