Card shops?

What is your card shop like, do you like it, does it have good prices on singles and boxes? Also is the owner nice?

Just wondering because I went to this one card shop the other day and it was really overpriced and barely had any singles.

If anyone has ever been to Johnny o's in Rockford Illinois, that is a really good cardshop the prices are reasonable, he's got lots of singles and memorbilla, and he is a really nice guy.

Owner is really cool.
But they don't really carry many boxes. The only boxes they have is Murad and $80.

I went to a shop in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, I can't remember the shop's name. It was a nice shop with plenty of singles and boxes but I felt most things were too high.

My LCS blows...hard. I really don't know why they're even in business, neither the owner or his dad who runs it most of the time care anything about cards. Everything is vastly overpriced, especially singles. Boxes are usually $20-40 over what you can get them online for.

Just one example of their greatness: they have a bunch of singles just sitting on shelves...most are base, but there are some RCs and autos mixed in, not even in a penny sleeve. I was looking through one day to see if there was any base I might need and I came across a Brandon Jacobs Bowman Chrome RC auto, again, not in even a penny sleeve. This was before the 2007 season, when Jacobs was becoming known, but not a household name yet. It was obvious the card had been sitting there for two years, since they opened the boxes when they came out in 2005. So I thought I'd see if he'd let it go cheap, hoping he didn't realize who it was. Well he didn't, but he looked it up anyway. $50 BV...he was going to let me have it at the amazing price of $38. When you could go on eBay and get it for half that or less. Sitting there bare for two years and he won't even price it to get rid of it...what good is it doing sitting on a shelf?

So I really don't know who buys from them...they own the building, so no rent, but they still have to pay for utilities and to buy stock, so I'm not sure how they hang around, but they have for years. I only go there for supplies and a random pack every now and then and I don't even ask the prices on things any more. Unfortunately, it's the only one within about an hour and a half for me.

My LCS prices all cards at book, so dont buy singles from there, prices on boxes are pretty good for not being an online store or anything..

Owner is super nice, because will, she's my boss..lol

i work there whenever i feel like it, its pretty easy, price stuff and put it away, thats it!

I've had some very good pulls from there as well, best probably being an 07 Finest Redemption green refractor of Kevin Durant, bv160 at the time!

My card shop in Knoxville is pretty good. The owner is great and knows a TON about cards fortunately. He really helped me out when I was just starting new. Boxes are a little expensive, but most card shops are. Singles are usually cheaper than BV. He also has a 5 dollar section with some pretty cool GUs in it. Nice little shop with tons of cards and memorabilia
