Casey Kasem Stops Countin' Them Down
Casey Kasem Stops Countin' Them Down
The current Adult Contemporary American Top 20 will wind up over the July 4th holiday weekend – a meaningful anniversary for Casey. His quintessentially “American” show debuted on a July 4, back when he created the franchise in 1970.
39 years of Casey Kasem counting them down on American Top 40, Casey's Top 40, and most recently, Adult Contemporary American Top 20. The end of an era for sure!

Unmistakeable voice. A music icon. Voice comparable to sports legends like Harry Callas, Harry Cary and radio personality Paul Harvey.

I actually talked about this the other day with my girlfriend. I said "is he really still doing this?" and she said that she thought he died awhile ago. Bad thing to say, she didnt mean anything by it haha.
But really, WOW, hes been doing this awhile (and probably long enough to not like the music out there today, like most "older" people are).
He's a pretty cool guy. Sad to see him retire. And I obviously didnt know enough about him and waht he did.

Used to listen to him thru the 80's and 90's. Always nice to have a job you love where you can work as long as you want. Should be fun to see who get the gig after him. As they will have big footsteps to follow in.

I don't think it will ever be the same without Casey. I would probably not even listen to it.

I did not know it until today, but Kasem was also the voice of "Shaggy" in the Scooby Doo cartoons. One of my favorites as a kid!
