Wow...that is surprising! Very bizarre too, as you don't see people go back on their word, at least in NBA contract situations, too often.

nice! now the raptors will be less garbage than before and i can enjoy them a little bit mnore than last year. last year was brutal torture

Well if the Raptors have to renounce Marion, then Portland could sign him with the money that they were going to use on Hedo.

It happens more often than people think, it just isn't always reported like the Hidayet situation.
I don't see Marion as a Portland guy. They have Outlaw in the mix, who is essentially a younger and cheaper version. Plus, Marion is a bit selfish, he caused a stir in Phoenix because he was the third option. Third, Marion's game hinges on athleticism, and as his body ages in a few years he will be largely less effective. If I'm an FO, I wouldn't want to tie myself to Marion for 4+ years in a contract.
