I was going through a list of teams trying to figure out what I think the standings would be based on current rosters and I think it's going to be a lot tougher for Detroit to get the President's trophey and make the final. A few of the teams in the west have really stocked up, like Chicago who shares the same division as Detroit. This could be an itneresting year, but I can't picture Detroit in the finals.

As for Pittsburgh, I still think they have a shot. Sure, they lost Gill, Boucher, and Scuderi on defence and Sykora up front, but I'll think they can manage and who knows, they might even pick up another defenceman. As for Sykora, I believe he was scrathed throughout most of the playoffs or just the finals. But with everything said, it will be interesting, because it looks like they only have just over $3million left to spend under the cap.

you are also forgetting that the pens lost garon and now don't have a quality backup incase MAF goes cold or gets hurt.

Calgary just lost 41 goals, they'll be great defensively, but that only wins games if you are the Devils :)


I say Detroit repeats in the West.

I think this is the year the Hawks take 1st in the central over Detroit. I think with Habby gone Huet knows he's #1 now. If he can step up his game the Hawks should improve their points over last year. Alot of the teams in the west have improved (LA,Cal,St.L) while some have done nothing to get better (Dal,SJ,Van,Phx).

If we are flying into fairy fantasy future land for a while, I am going ot say Det vs Pit does not happen for a third time and my bet goes on Van vs Was final next year.

If we go into Fairy Fantasy Land...Kings win the Cup.....by sweeping the Capitals....They triple team Ovie and the Caps get about 12 breakaways by guys like Kozlov and .....well...cant think of anyone else that is even on the team....but they all miss because their leader and goal scorer is getting roughed up by 3 Kings.....

AND NO....There will not be any calls on illegal sticks this time....
