    Lets play GM

Ok, with the signing of Kovalev in Ottawa this afternoon, it got me thinking what would it take for the Sabres (insert laughter here) or another team to get Heatley.

A few things to consider if you'd try to trade for him

    1) You'd want him on your team
    2) Heatley has a 7.5 million cap hit and Ottawa (from my understanding, is over the Cap).
    3) The deal with Edmonton was for Dustin Penner, Andrew Cogliano and Smid, so would your team have 3 players of the same caliber/cap number.

One thing for the Sens fans: Would any of these proposals make sense

    =====

    My offer for Heatley

Heatley (7.5), Schubert(.883) to Buffalo for Jochen Hecht (3.53) and Clarke MacArthur (RFA)

    Thoughts?

Brian Murray swears he can absorb Heatley and Kovalevs salaries into the cap. If I were Murray, It would be a consideration. In my eyes, I honestly think Heatley wants to go to Detroit to do what Hossa could not do. He thinks he can win a cup in Detroit. I've lost all respect for him, more than the respect I lost for Eric Lindros and his ordeal with the Nordiques. You got your trade and you snub it??? What the ??? He's stuck in Ottawa for the time being and I don't see him going anywhere. I honestly think you'd have to throw somebody else at him from Buffalo----Mike Weber.

I'd be willing to throw Weber into the deal.. with Myers, Butler and possibly Gragnani, there is some depth... not alot

Hmm MacArthur does intrigue me a bit, but not sure if it intrigues me enough to move heatley for him, hecht and weber. Also I love reading rumors so i'll share this little piece
"I had this a few hours ago "off the record" but now I am hearing from various sources that a deal may be in place that would send Heatley to Columbus. Apparently, Rick Nash (who has some strong international history playing with Heatley) is pushing for this. Possible players that could be heading to Ottawa include Filotov, Brassard, and Huselius. I am also hearing the Oilers are in on Heatley as well."

all I will say is if Columbus deal EITHER Filatov or Brassard, Howson should get his head examined

I'm not sure I would either, but I'm tired of the makeup of this team, it might not be the right move, but I'd like to at least see a pulse from HSBC arena.

    But think about this

    Stafford-Roy-Vanek
    Heatley-Connolly-Pommers
    Mancari-Kennedy-Gerbe
    Kaleta-Goose-Paille

    Myers-Rivet
    Sekera-Montador
    Tallinder-Lydman

Mair, Paetsch and Schubert is your depth

    just a thought

What gave it away that it was Eklund? The fact the players mentioned would probably never be mentioned by anyone else? (Aside from maybe Huselius)
