Beckett Baseball?
Hello,
I am curious to know if anyone has received a Beckett baseball magazine [either the monthly or bimonthly issue] and received an "MLB Showdown" baseball card of Alex Rodriguez in it???
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, such as the issue it's in, I'd be very grateful...
[This I believe is a link to a picture of the card : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW ]
If anyone can help me, PLEASE reply here or send me an email @ [email protected]
Thanks a lot guys.

Sweet, I want that card. I haven't seen any Becketts with cards in them, but new Becketts were just released today.
My guess is that the card is from the new Trading Deadline set, but I don't know when that was supposed to come out.

I got one of those...surprised to see Beckett to put a card in there. (I wouldn't call it a promo card, cause I saw no evidence of being one)
Like the fact that they have it so he can play third and short!

I got my Beckett in the mail today. I was surprized to see it sealed in plastic. The A-Rod card was glued to a postcard ad stapled into the mag. Nice looking card.
I have been looking at getting started with the MLB Showdown game. I've read the rules and it looks VERY fun. I live nowhere near a shop that sells the cards let alone having a place to play against others. Do any of you here play in a league or at a local card shop? I'd like to know how it goes for you.
I used to own a card shop about 10 years ago and I'm thinking about opening another. One thing I want to do is start a MLB Showdown league.

I always am tempted to pick up the MLB Showdown game, as I have a place near me that does tournaments and stuff. However, I always end up forgetting about it.

Mike

It is a VERY fun game from my experiences... it provides card collecting AND card game in one, good combo. There are leagues at stores, regional tournaments, and a national tournament. If none of these are close to you though, you can still collect the game and play online either through AIM chats or a program called "Apprentice".
If any of you have questions abuot it, you could AIM me [same name as this username] and I'd be happy to answer any questions.
Thanks. :)
