Question about graded cards
I have never been a collector of graded cards but want to start grabbing a few ot the 80's OPC rookies.
A few questions
Lets take a 84-85 OPC random rookie.. we will use Cam Neely
What company is better for 80's OPC grading PSA or BGS
I dont want to break the bank getting these so what grade would be adequite for one of these. is 7.5 too low? I would like to get 8 or 9 but like i said I dont know what to expect for pricing
Now I used Neely because I just picked up a PSA 9 Rookie for about 20.00 shipped. Is that a good deal? or did I pay too much
any help would be great

I would say that nothing under a 9 from either Beckett or PSA. Beckett grades sheet cut cards where as PSA, to the best of my knowledge, will still only grade factory cut cards. Graded is good but you will pay a premium over non-slabbed cards. I used to collect heavily in graded cards and found I simply didn't enjoy it as much as collecting ungraded cards. Sold all of my graded copies about 3 years ago.

from what I've been told PSA is better for vintage cards such as your 80's opc and BGS is better for newer cards 2000 - and on. I've noticed over the last few years that both PSA & BGS can bring a hefty premium to your cards but only if the grade is 9 or higher, If you don't think your cards will grade atleast an 8 then it's totally not worth it unless its a gretzky rc or something like that. I've also noticed that BGS may bring an extra 5 to 10% increase in value over PSA but they are comparable. I prefer PSA myself. And I would say 20 bucks for a opc neely rc psa 9 is great steal.
