    Thumbs up Elway rookie cards

For a good ten years me and my father were as big in to card collecting as you could get, but as some have put it on this site the card hobby glory days have long been over. Its been a about ten years since my becket subscription ran out and I was just wondering if somepne out there could give me an update on the Elway83-84 topps rookie card? I would also like to hear what the MArino is going for as well, there was always a big difference in price between the two because of MArino's goddy numbers, that of course changed after the first super bowl. just please someone update me on whats going on with some of the cards that still make collecting fun, thanks!

Both Elway and Marino RC's book for $80 each. Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply and the welcome, sorry to be so needy but I really was at one point a huge collector and still have nearly everything. If you could be so kind to tell me if the star basketball cards of the 80's retained their value I have about 200, with a lot of stars but of course no Jordan(although I have actually seen one in person)

What sets from the 1980's do you have cards from? I'll try to list the key stars values.

The Star cards of the 80's lost a lot of value as the "brilliant" minds at the Star company decided to reprint the cards using the original printing plates thus you are not able to tell the difference between an original and a reprint.

I'm not sure if he meant Star Company cards or star cards like Jabbar, Malone, etc from other sets like Fleer.

    well, I'll be damn!

so now I know why the Star cards aren't expensive

I've got the Boston Celtics cards from 1984 - all of them, including Larry Bird...

never knew that about Star cards - always wondered what happened to the company - there was a time when the Magic Johnson and/or Larry Bird Star cards were fetching $50-75
