Anyone remember the older sets? You can get em' CHEAP!

So I've decided to collect a set for every year since my birth (1980).

I've had Bowman 1998-current because it has the most rookies. When I went back to fill in the holes I was kinda shocked to see how cheap some of these sets are.

    This is what I paid:

    97 Bowman's Best $5 (Plummer, Dunn)
96 Bowman's Best $20 (Lewis, Johnson, George, Bruschi)
95 SP $8 (Davis, Martin, McNair, Collins)
    94 SP $14 (overpaid - Faulk)
93 SP $13 (Bledsoe, Bettis, Brunell)

I remember when a Bledsoe SP RC traded for $100 (I couldn't afford one at 13 yo).

For you younger collectors, these sets are a great way to pick up cool rookies at a cheap price. The 1996 BB set is one of the few that has Ray Lewis and Tedy Bruchi's rookies.

Going to fill in 1980 - 1988 with Topps (naturally). I have a 1989 Score set. 1990 and 1992 will probably be Topps as well and I have a 1991 Stadium Club Set (Favre RC).

Hoping to find some clean Topps sets at the National. I'm hesitant to buy them sight-unseen because of condition issues.

    Later!

That's a great amount of value for your money. I really like the look of the 93 and 94 sp's.

I looked into this earlie this year and never bought any due to space and needing to save money. It's true though - I still want the 1996 SPx set.
