    odd colored jersey swatches?

When you see a GU jersey card from a player are there any 'rules' as to when the player actually wore that jersey? I ask because I see some odd colored jersey swatches. For example a Leafs player with some Red in the swatch of Flyers with Greeen. I do not claim to know every possible color combination that teams have worn, but it just seems a little off to me.

sometimes when players switch teams either by trade or free agency. The jersey used for the card is from there old team. An example of this is I have a Briere jersey from his 1st year with the flyers but it is a blue and white swatch from his old sabres iniform.

100% true. I've got several Ranford where the swatch is from nothing that was never used in an NHL game, for sure. They were used in an official 'NHL event' after he retired.

With the high prices on game-used jerseys, UD uses up all the old stock. This is why you *still* see Bruins swatches on Joe Thornton jersey cards after all these years. With the high movement rate of some players, you will from time to time see them listed as Team A with a Team B photo and a Team C swatch. I had a Jason Blake like that once upon a time.

I know what you mean....I have a patch from the 07/08 UD Ultimate Collection that is piece of the paw from the panther, from the time when Luongo was with Florida and he was playing with the Vancouver Canucks at the time the product was released.

There are a slight chance that it could be an error card as well. Like the company accidently using another player's jersey swatch in place of the player who was suppose to be on the card. Rarely occurs, but they do happen.

They do have errors time to time. I got a Shanny from 03/04 with a St Louis Blues swatch he hadn't worn in 8 years.
