    I'm at a cross-roads...

Lately I've come to realize that my quest to become a Jason Witten super-collector is doomed.
I have been making slow (very slow) progress, and thank you to those who have helped out with trades or even a donation or two.
But lately it seems that if I'm to have any chance at all of reaching my goal, then I'll have to buy vice trade. And I've decided not to go that route any longer.
Trading on here (for me) has slowed to a crawl because a lot (not all) of traders are wanting to dump their lo-end inserts/RCs for other folks GU or Autos. Lately I've been asked to be on the losing side of that deal a few times.

It kinda sucks because I have well over 100 Witten cards now and don't know what to do with them.

Your comments are welcome, but mainly I'm typing/posting this as a sort of therapy to help me decide which path to take.

    Thanks...

whats wrong wit taking it slow? if its pc its forever or until you decided to part with it but don`t give up so easy. it takes time unless your freaking rich. just pick up a card a week or put away $10 a week and buy 1 nice one a month.

I've gone way overboard beginning my Harvin collection. buying and trading.

What I keep in mind when making the trade is, how much do i have in ($$$ wise) this card I'm going to trade. So if I have a card that i only have 3 bucks in - but it is worth 50 - is it really a loss? My thought process is - i don't want this card, i want that card. So I pull the trigger.

I just don't get caught up in value - ask the folks i've traded with!

I've also given up on trying to be a Heath Miller "super collector". There are just too many parallels for a base card when it comes to topps and bowman chrome and all the other parallels other companies do. I know in my heart that I'm a super collector, I don't need anyone to judge it based on reaching certain numbers.

What about just collecting base cards rather than going after inserts and parallels?

Just have fun with your collection. Don't worry about anything else. If collecting Witten isn't fun anymore, collect someone else.

Why do you "Super Collector" validation? Sounds like you just started collecting Witten for the sole purpose of becoming a Super Collector.

My Colts PC sometimes comes in droves, and sometimes I'm lucky to pick up just base for a month or so. Collecting is supposed to be a fun, hobby. If you are collecting just to reach a certain status or financial goal, you are likely to be disappointed. 100+ Witten cards is pretty impressive. Not a lot of people probably collect a ton of him. Decide if you like your Witten collection and go from there. I will say, speaking from experience, if you decide to let it go...make sure you can. I've sold a part of my collection off once and have regretted it ever since.

This is what it sounded like to me. If your "goal" is being a super collector, it was only a matter of time before you became bored or frustrated. I have to really enjoy looking at each and every card in my collection, otherwise I don't buy it. Super collecting - to me - would mean that I had to buy tons of cards that I really wouldn't like, just in order to reach some sort of superficial status. I'd rather have one rare Witten RC, an auto, and a nice multicolor patch auto than 360 different cards, but that's just my opinion.

Just have fun with your collection. Don't worry about anything else. If collecting Witten isn't fun anymore, collect someone else.

This is really great advice. For the time and money we all spend, it MUST be enjoyable. If you aren't enjoying your cards, change course.
