Lawn Jarts game
Have you ever heard or seen the Lawn Jarts game. I have a set of these in good condition with box. They are metal darts looking. You throw them in the air and try to land them in a circle ring to score points. The game is dated back to the mid 70's early 80's. I have a few questions if you could please help answer them for me. I was told they are illeagal to sell on ebay, can anyone tell me if this is true? In the past I looked this up on ebay, all I could find is the replacement parts for the darts. How can I ship these through the mail, is it illeagal because the are sharp and could be dangerous and could be used as wepons? Any help would be greatly appreiated.
Thank you

I'm not sure but let me take a stab at it and I'll say they are not illegal to sell on ebay or to ship them through mail. I remember playing them some time ago, they are dangerous for young children, or inexperienced people.
Google would probably be your best though to find out for sure.
EDIT: a quick google search shows they might be banned, but I don't know if that's the same thing as being illegal to have in possession, or to put them in the mail.

Thanks, I just found this. I was looking to sell them.
Effective December 19, 1988, all lawn darts are banned from sale in the United States. Lawn darts, used in an outdoor game, have been responsible for the deaths of 3 children.
A set of lawn darts usually includes four large darts and two targets. The darts typically are about 12 inches long with a heavy metal or weighted plastic tip on one end and three plastic fins on a rod at the other end. The darts are intended to be grasped by the rod and thrown underhand toward a target. While the tip may not be sharp enough to be obviously dangerous, these darts can cause skull punctures and other serious injuries.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission urges parents to discard or destroy all lawn darts immediately. They should not be given away since they may be of harm to others.
Consumers who find lawn darts still being sold, should contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission on the toll free hotline: 1-800-638-CPSC (2772). A teletypewriter for the hearing impaired is available at 1-800-638-8270. Consumers also may write to: Compliance, Consumer Product Safety Commission, Washington, D.C. 20207.
I guess I am sol right?

Good find, I wasn't aware. And honestly, if I had a set of lawn darts and wanted to sell them, I wouldn't hesitate one bit to sell them. Now, whether or not it's ok to sell them on ebay (or any other interent site), well, I dunno.
It doesn't mention anything in the article about having them in one's possession, and/or using them.

back in 08 :
"woman dies while trying to hide lawn darts from grandkids"
CHARLES CITY—Joanie Hager, 53, fell to her death Monday while attempting to haul a box of lawn darts (also known as Jarts) from her garage to the attic in anticipation of a visit from her grandsons.

Yeah, really stupid people should be banned.
Can you imagine if darts (that are played in a bar) were banned because someone walked in front of the board and severed their jugular vein?

Get this. I emailed this company that sells parts for the darts. This is what they emailed me.
The 1988 USA ban was put in place due to 3 kids getting killed from improper use. The ban does not ban "parts", just lawn darts. A part is a not a lawn dart, therefore a part is not banned. If it is assembled into a lawn dart, then that is banned.

This takes me back. We used to have a couple of sets of these when i was a kid only they weren't Jarts, they were the real deal Darts. The family would spend hours in the yard playing that and Croquet.
