Hmm either posturing up to prepare the season without Dipetro or trying to work a trade in the not to distant future.
That or Garth Snow just loves goalies to much?

Could be. Bet that long term contract isn't looking so well now is it?

He's a good goalie when healthy. With a 4.5 million cap hit... if he stayed healthy, it'd look brilliant. The problem is that it's turned out to bee way too big of an IF. :)

The word on Long Island is DP will be ready by Thanksgiving. He will be coming to training camp but probably working out on his own. The Islanders aren't willing to give games away due to minor league goaltending. When DP gets back and proves he is 100 percent they can trade one of the other two goalies (biron) for a draft pick.

OKAY, WHY do you need 3 starters??? I mean, yeah DP is out until November, but still, when he's out 2 starters??? Are they gonna do a Chicago system where they switch off each game???

They will probably pretty much rotate until DP comes back and proves he is 100 percent. Neither one of them is Martin Brodeur and both would be number twos on a majority of teams. Still a huge step up for the Isles who were using AHL goalies last year.

I found it odd at first, and as much as they are saying DiPietro could be back by November, I'm thinking his injury is much more serious and they want to be prepared this year instead of relying on Roloson and Munroe.
