One box 2009 PP Series II
Greetings all,
Monday of this week I received my hobby box from the SCF case break and I did pretty good. To be honest - it was probably the most fun I have ever had busting a box of anything! Below is the breakdown followed by a review.
Base Cards: 117/120 base cards, plus 10 duplicates
Gold Parallels: 30 - all different
Pocket Portraits: 30 - 27 regular (one dupe), 2 Hometwon variations, and one Smoke Tires variation
Nascar Gallery: 4 - all different
Game Face: 3 - all different
Numbered Parallels: 3 (152 Tony Stewart, 200 Hendrick Motorsports, 215 Jeff Gordon)
Memorabilia: 1 (Prospects Pieces Brad Keselowski)
Autographs: 1 (Mark Martin)
The lesser hits were fast and furious - the first column had two of the numbered cards, the SMoke Tires, and a Hometown variation. The big hits were nicely spread out - and nerve racking! The Martin auto was in pack 15/30 - the only hit from column two. I'll take that as the only hit lol! The last column had a numbered, a Hometown variation, and in pack 30 - thats right - the very last pack revelealed the Keselowski tire card! It is a very cool looking piece is had two ribs in on it (extreme left and then almost extreme right) and between rib two and right edge there are two nipples sticking up.
I loved busting this. I'll admit - I'm not wild over the driver card layout (vertical vs. horizontal) but I do like the Pocket Portraits and their variants. The problem with the old mini cards is you KNEW exactly what you had - maybe not who - but what. Now there is an element of surprise when you pull out that card. The foil faced inserts are nice - but warp quickly. I much prefer the plastic inserts - perhaps a medium will come later.
As to the memorabilia - they rocked! The Prospect Pieces are a nice layout and I have seen a great many mulitcolored or defined pieces. The autographs are very nice looking - like the gold layout - now lets get back the gold pen.
Personally - I give the product an 'A'. Thanks Press Pass for a wonderful replacement to your original incarnation of Traks and to Les for continuing to provide the Nascard nation with inexpensive boxes. Thanks for reading!
