Found out a month ago, that the Champ was going to be doing a 1pm-3pm free autograph signing at the Mall of America on 7-26-09 to help promote his DeathClutch walk out t-shirts, sold exclusively at Spencer's stores. So today, got up extra early and headed to the mall to get a wristband they were distributing for the signing. Arrived at the mall around 10:45am and there was already a line. Got the wristband and took my place in line. Two long hours later, it was about time, but no sign of Brock yet. 20 minutes after the scheduled start time, he showed up and pumped the crowd. The rules were suppose to be 1 item signed per person, but people were getting 3 and even 4 items signed, causing the line to move at a snail pace. Even worst, there was the Mall of America media people there to get an interview with him, which halted the line for a good 10-15 minutes. By the time I reached the stage, it was already 2:10pm. One of the Spencer's employee was passing out promo photos, so grabbed one and approached the Champ. Greeted Brock, told him that it was a great fight between him and Frank Mir, and handed my silver paint pen for him to sign the photo along with my WWE trading card. He started to sign the photo, but the pen was drying up, so he grabbed a silver sharpie instead, moved aside the old photo, and signed a new one with it. I then asked him if he could sign my trading card as well, he obliged, signed it, I shook his hand and thanked him, wishing him good luck on his next fight as well. Overall, despite an almost endless trip to get to the signing stage, it was well worth it, coming out of this with my best MMA in-person success up to date.
