Report: Brett Favre to stay Retired
Brett Favre has decided to stay retired, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Beat writer Judd Zulgad "just received a phone call from Brad Childress who said he talked to Brett Favre and that he was informed that Favre is staying retired." The decision isn't as shocking as it would've been a month ago, but it's still a stunner. Favre has detested surgery ever since his battle with a painkillers addiction, but went through with a biceps operation in May anyways. It looks like the Sage Rosenfels-Tarvaris Jackson battle is back on. Jul. 28 - 4:59 pm et

Frankly, I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Not that I think he's lying... but rather that he doesn't know what the **** he'll want tomorrow. Look for him to be putting on throwing exhibitions at the local high school and coyly announcing himself 'in football shape' by mid-August.
Vikings didn't lose much through this whole sideshow, but it's was still a distraction.
Now that Favre is out of the picture, the Vikes would be in much better shape if they took a run at Vick (if their owner wasn't set against it). Not to be their for-sure starter, but to be another option if things with TJax and Sage go south (which is a strong possibility). Vick's 5-week 'suspension' would give the Vikes just enough time to let their current QBs take a shot at the helm without worrying about getting the hook immediately.
