It is very possible, but at the same time, very unlikely. Like Dan said...teams will probably rest their starters once they lock-up HCA. And when those starters are resting, they will probably lose most of their games. Unless the team has an insanely good bench, it won't happen.

I can't see this one being broken. Even the Celtics dynasty of the 60's averaged twice as many losses per season. This Bulls team was something special. You know the talk will start about breaking it this year with LBJ and Shaq together, but I can't see it happening.

I think that yes, someone is going to break it. It won;t be easy but it can be done

i think it can be broken. 72-10 is INSANE, but with players being greedy, it wouldn't surprise me if in a few years one team had 3 of the top players in the game, plus great role players. I don't think it will be done any time soon, but it is definitely possible

While possible, I have been hearing many remarks lately from players on teams with high win marks saying they don't find the record particularly meaningful since it's just the regular season. So, I don't think teams will care enough to really want to beat this.

It's not like teams weren't stacked when the Bulls set this record - the Knicks had Ewing, Magic had Shaq, Pacers had Reggie, Jazz had Malone and Stockton, Barkley was somewhere (76ers I think...maybe Suns...can't remember where he was in 95-96)...there were still lots of great players/teams then too...I may even go as far to say that there were more great teams then compared to now, but I'd have to do some research before I definitely would say that.

The Bulls did have the advantage of two fresh expansion teams that year (Grizzlies and Raptors). However, the late '80s also had an influx of several expansion teams, and no teams in those years were able to reach the same victory level of the Bulls team.

The NBA was no more watered down during the Bulls runs then now or during the 80s. There were some great players and teams. It will take a small miracle for that record to be broken. Like it has been stated so many teams mail it in at the end of the season to rest starters for the playoffs, only if a team had a realistic shot with 2-3 games to go an owner or coach might push to get the record.
