No offense to any Sorenson fans, but i figured it was coming sooner or later, i mean this is year four for him, and he has never done a whole lot.

It's all a rumor still at this point, but I'm not surprised by this. Sorenson's been in the Cup Series for four years, and he's only got 14 top-10's to show for it. That doesn't really cut it.

Ganassi talked this kid up so much when he was so young, and moved him up to Cup WAYYYY before he was ready....and he's never panned out because of it.

Haha....yea, that's a problem, considering the Cup series doesn't even race at Gateway.

i have to disagree with everyone. reed has been the second best rpm driver all year. if anyone needs to go it is sadler. he has done absolutely nothing at rpm. and ganassi's cars sucked, that is evident by how well montoya is running in a chevy.

and how many years have these drivers done nothing mears, mcmurray, ragan, sadler, allmendinger, speed, vickers,h ornish, stremme?

i think reed has the talent, and rpm is still behind, and that is strictly due to adding that 4th car. if not for allmendinger they would have been running the new engine months ago. and what did sadler do with that new engine this last weekend, nothing, that is what.

i get sick of people bad mouthing drivers who would, will and can have much better runs in better equipment. kahne gets all the good stuff.

and for that matter what the **** has dale jr done? won a fuel milage race, oh and so did mears (his only lucky win), and vickers wrecked two drivers for a win. so let's all look at these guys. if reed doesn't deserve a ride, none of the above do either.

    Dave,

Vickers/McMurray/Mears/etc. all outrun Reed on a weekly basis. They also all have wins, whether you like it or not. That means that, regardless of strategy, they've all been running well enough to be in a position to win, which I can't even recall the last time Reed was. I'll agree with you on Sadler and Stremme, they're both pretty terrible, but that's the only one out of that group. Hornish has been outrunning Reed this year, and you can't even count Speed b/c he's a rookie.

Like I said, Reed has 14 top 10's in four seasons....take a look at Vickers/McMurray/Mears over those four seasons....they're numbers are MUCH better than Reed's are.

Those guys I mentioned are guys who always finish in the top-20 in points....Reed hasn't even cracked the top-20 in four years. They're not on the same level. Not at all.

    jeremy,
i agree that reed is not doing what i thought he would do by now. i still think equipment has everything to do with it. he hasn't had equipment in 4 years.

reed leads the stat with the most positions advanced in the final 10% of the races ran this year.

and when is the last time mears, or mcmurray have contended for a win. yes casey has 1 more top 10 this year and is 100 points ahead, but really, is he running any better than reed is?

and this is more due to downsizing. i understand that the staff and employees at rpm are in love with dinger, and i like him as well, but elliot's contract is up at years end, doesn't it make more sense to release him, and give reed the oppurtunity to work with his team.

last year they switched crew chiefs on him mid year, now a new team. is he a jimmie johnson, or tony stewart....no, but he has talent yet to be seen. put him in the 48 and we'll see what he is capable of. it is easy to dis a drivers performance, when your driver has a great crew chief, and great equipment, wins races and runs well week by week.

but even with johnson's strong end of race advancements, reed still has a better average of postions advanced in the last 100-150 laps each week.

i just don't see it happening, maybe i am being biased, but it just doesn't make logical sense.
