Post Mike Foligno's wife dies of cancer

    from sabres.com:

Janis Foligno, wife of Sudbury Wolves coach and GM Mike Foligno, mother to Ottawa Senators forward Nick Foligno and Buffalo Sabres draft pick Mike Foligno, and niece of Hall of Fame goalie Eddie Giacomin has lost her battle with cancer.

She died Monday night according to a statement on the Sudbury Wolves' web site.

Janis Foligno was born and raised in Sudbury, Ont. and together with Mike had four children - Cara, Nick, Lisa and Marcus, who the Sabres selected in the fourth round, 104th overall, of June's Entry Draft.

The team said funeral arrangements are still pending and will be announced when finalized.

"Janis was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt and friend," the club said in a statement. "She was a great person to know, to talk to and to be with. She was a great friend of the game of hockey as well.

"The Sudbury Wolves would like to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to Mike Foligno and his family. Janis Foligno will be missed by everyone that knew her."
