UFC 101 Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin

Easily the fight I am most anxious to see on this card. I honestly think this will be a better fight than the main event (could be wrong). This will be a huge test for Silva in the LHW division, and possibly the biggest test he's faced so far in the UFC. It will be Anderson's technique vs Forrest's game planning. I honestly think that Forrest has a legit chance to beat Silva, but there is also the possibility of him getting KTFO. Here is my breakdown:

Striking: Silva clearly has the edge, he works his jab to perfection and uses it to set up many combos, he also has the strong clinch game, which has proven to be lethal. It will be interesting to see how and if Silva will decide to clinch with the bigger, and stronger fighter. If he can stay in the outside and eventually work his way in, he can KO Forrest, just like Rashad did.

Ground: Silva has the better grappling pedigree, but this one is a lot closer than most people would expect. Forrest does have a good ground game, though not as well as Silva's. What will play a big factor is Forrest's size and strength. Forrest is a HUGE LWH, who walks around 230-235, and we saw in the Henderson fight that if Silva is taken down, he can be controlled.

Prediction: I can see this fight being Fight of the Night, Forrest loves to bring it and push fighters, and hasn't been in a boring fight. I think Silva will feel Forrest out the 1st round, and eventually get the win via KO.

As much as I hate to say it Silva is going to be too much for Forrest to handle. I give Anderson the advantage on the stand-up and a slight on the ground. Forrest could easily get off on the ground too though b/c he's more of a ground and pound fighter. Either way it'll be a very entertaining match up.
