Anyone else upset about Nationals Show?
So i went yesterday and today. Must say if you were into the older stuff then this was deff the place to be but the more modern stuff was fairly limited considering the amount of dealers. Not to mention peaople asking CRAZY prices!!! I couldnt believe how over-priced things were. i know they have to make up for the fees of setting up and all but my goodness. Im not saying there werent decent deals to be made but overall i wasnt impressed. Also i know the venders figure that being its the "Nationals", that buyers will have alot of cash on them, yea thats true but most of the people that go to buy, know what things are going for and dont just spend cash b/c they have it. IDK what are your thoughts?

im only upset because i have to work and cant get over there.... From what i hear though usually the prices fall the later into the show you get.... first day if a dealer doesnt sell something they still have 3 more days to move it... last day is where the deals are.

This is very true my friend and i understand that but wanting $500 for a Tony Romo SPA rookie card ungraded is slightly over-priced. The thing is the people who attend the nationals arent stupid. they dont pay $18.00 at the door to get in b/c they "got off of work early". With that said; whos to say that they finally wait till the last day and never end up getting rid of it and its too late b/c they wanted to try and get every penny out of you.

i guess the grass is always greener on the other side... i just wish i was able to have the opportunity to attend The National. who knows... maybe tomorrow is your lucky day and you'll find that white whale you've been looking for in someone's clearance bin.

lol well they got my $18.00 each day for yesterday and today so tommarow isnt looking to good considering i made walked around twice each day just in case i may have missed something. I picked up 2 cards that i liked just so my trip wasnt a total waste. there was some VERY nice stuff but as i said before, the prices weren't even close to what myself or probably 95% of the people out there would even think about paying. I just wanted people's thoughts on the show...i know theres gonna be more of these threads but i figured i would start one early.

Yeah from my experience I've always noticed the best deals can be found on the last day of major card shows. That's when the dealers get desperate to make as much money before it ends.

While that's true in some cases, I wouldn't say that's true for a majority of dealers. If a dealer doesn't sell what they want, they can always put it on ebay, which has even more exposure than a show. Some may be willing to make be a little more willing to deal toward the end, but most dealers I know aren't desperate to sell at any time.
The Fansedge show in Chicago was the same way, very few modern card dealers, the ones that were set up were sky high with their prices.
